POLICE HUNT MASKED BANDITS OVER SALT ASH ROBBERY

Police have released CCTV of an armed hold-up at a petrol station, north of Newcastle, in their hunt for two masked men.

Around 11 o’clock on Sunday night the bandits stormed the Caltex on Nelson Bay Road at Salt Ash, armed with a bat and metal bar.

One of the men threatened the male attendant, demanding he put money and cigarettes into his backpack.

The other forced two customers into the store and onto the floor with their hands behind their backs.

The pair fled in a small hatchback, which was last seen driving along Nelson Bay Road towards Williamtown.

Both men have been described as being in their late teens or early 20s, with thin builds.

Anyone with information is urged to Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
