A 32-year-old man has been charged after allegedly attempting to shoplift a number of items from an electronic store in Bennetts Green yesterday.
Around 2:30pm on Thursday, employees at an electronic store on Abdon Close say a man was attempting to steal a number of items.
The staff approached the man, but he took off on foot. He was later apprehended and returned to the store, where it’s alleged he assaulted a staff member.
Police were called and arrested the man. They then searched the man’s vehicle and found a number of items.
The man has been charged with shoplifting and assault and will face Newcastle Local Court today.
