MAN AND HIS DOG STRANDED FOR TWO DAYS BY HUNTER FLOODS

A man has survived for two days after being stranded by flood waters in the Hunter Region.

The 56-year-old man was travelling along Allyn River Road, Upper Allyn about 9pm on Tuesday night when his vehicle was swept from the road and into the Allyn river.

The man escaped with his dog, and they took shelter in a nearby cabin.

Concerns were raised yesterday when members of the public found personal items belonging to the man.

Police, Ambulance Paramedics, and the SES attended a short time later, and the man was conveyed through the flooded crossings and taken to John Hunter Hospital. He is in a stable condition.

More to come.
