Bede Durbidge has revealed his Hawaiian surgeon told him he was “lucky to be alive” after his horrific wipe-out at Pipeline two weeks ago.
The World Number 12 feared he’d be a paraplegic, describing the wave’s pressure on his trapped body like “Niagara Falls”.
