HUNDREDS OF OFFENCES IN FIRST SIX DAYS OF ARRIVE ALIVE

Police are disappointed with the amount of drivers caught speeding or driving under the influence during the first six days of Operation Arrive Alive.

Across the Barwon Cluster, which also includes the Oxley and New England Local Area Commands, there’s been more than 200 drivers caught speeding.

140 infringements have been issued for dangerous and negligent driving or using a mobile phone, while there’s been 11 seatbelt offences recorded.

“Be safe, be aware of what you’re doing, be conscious of your surroundings and where you’re travelling at and just pay attention to what’s going on, and arrive alive.”

Police are also urging home owners to secure their properties before travelling away for a holiday.

“Ensuring that you’ve just got someone collecting your mail, take any junk mail off the place, ensuring it looks like that it’s been well kept and tidied and someone knows your contact details and where you’re travelling to.”
