POLICE APPEAL TO WITNESSES AFTER PEDESTRIAN HIT

Police are appealing for witnesses to a pedestrian collision in the Hunter Valley over the weekend.
At about 11.20 on Saturday night, a 49-year-old man was walking his dog along Broke Road when he was struck by a Mazda, driven by a 19-year-old woman.
Police have been told the man appeared to be crossing the road when he was hit.
He received head, back and internal injuries and was airlifted to John Hunter Hospital in a critical condition, but he is expected to make a full recovery.
The driver underwent mandatory testing, but no charges have been laid.
