SLIM DUSTY CENTRE OPENS IN KEMPSEY
More than a decade after his death, Slim Dusty’s dream of having his own museum has finally been realised.
Today, the Slim Dusty Centre and Museum was officially opened in the country music icon’s hometown of Kempsey.
The multi-million dollar centre has been a long time coming, with state, federal and local governments all chipping in.
The Slim Dusty Foundation has also been raising money, to complete the fit-out.
The centre includes memorabilia from the revered entertainer’s life, contributed by the Kirkpatrick family along with fans and fellow artists.
Over his career Slim Dusty won 37 Golden Guitars, two ARIA awards and was inducted into the ARIA Hall of Fame.
