Super Rugby players Josh Holmes and Sean Doyle have been named in Deadwood rugby’s side to face the Emerging Wildfires at Number 2 Sportsground tomorrow afternoon.
The match will be the Wildfires’ biggest test to date.
“They’re going to be very physical, they’ll be very quick. I wouldn’t be surprised if they play quite a Barbarian style of rugby where they throw it around.”
Halfback Liam Walker recently joined the program after a playing stint in New Zealand.
He’s been impressed with the level of professionalism.
“See what rugby is like outside of Newcastle and see what the standard is like, and probably the realisation that we’re not far off it. The Newcastle comp is a very good standard and that we’re improving year after year.”
