Armidale and Moree are on the shortlist to secure a share of up to $95 million from a state government regional airport upgrade fund.
Both council’s Restart funding applications have moved to the next stage, among 22 others.
The funding aims to boost local economies and strengthen regional development and tourism.
Armidale would look at providing more parking for small aircraft, while Moree would focus on rehabilitating the primary runway.
