EMERGENCY STOCK BROUGHT IN

The rain wreaked havoc on Armidale’s other major sporting event this weekend, the Peel Valley Easter Cutting competition.

A truck transporting cattle got bogged three times during the long weekend tournament.

The situation led to nearly 150 head of cattle being sourced from a property 45 kilometres outside of town.

Without the additional beasts, club President Rob McKenna says he’d have been forced to cancel the final day today.

  1. Hi,
Thankyou Rob & your committe for a wonderful days Cutting at Armidale Arena. The replacement cattle certainly met the mark & Susie & I certainly appreciate all your efforts with keeping the Snafflebit Cutting on programme. Susie was competing in her first Cutting competition & proudly rode for NEGS Cutting trained by Grant Quigley. The nerves were high but the help we received from all involved was wonderful- many thanks to all. To top it off we had heard that our wheat farm 120km SW of Moree received 70mls overnight- the first for nearly 3 years!! So we shall indeed be back if your weekend can produce rain like that at home again!!
We will certainly be there again next year and your clubs’ marvellous efforts were simply wonderful. Congratulations.
    Thankyou again,
    Cheri & Susie Byrnes
