Business owners have renewed calls to flood-proof Wallsend, almost eight years after the Pasha Bulker storm tore through the suburb.
The Greens today vowed to push for funding to get council’s Floodplain Risk Management Plan off the ground.
“It’s time for the state government to stand with Newcastle Council to put real money in to make sure the hard works, the engineering works as well as the monitoring and the preparation work can be done so we never see that outcome again.”
“What we need essentially action and to start building and working on these solid changes.”
