Novelist Helen Garner and one of Australia’s greatest poets, Les Murray will headline next month’s Newcastle Writers Festival.
Organisers are expecting more than 5000 people to attend the event, which has expanded to three days due to its popularity.
“There’ll be poetry readings, author talks, workshops and book launches and panel discussions about various issues as well,” said the festival’s director Rosemarie Milsom.
In its third year, the festival will also shine a light on local talent.
It’ll get underway at City Hall on March 20.
