“GET A HEART” BOB BALDWIN SLAMS ALLIANZ INSURANCE AFTER APRIL STORM

Member for Paterson, Bob Baldwin, has told Allianz Insurance to “get a heart”, after claiming the insurer is avoiding paying claims for April storm damage in his electorate.

Mr Baldwin launched the attack on the company in a three minute speech to the Federation Chamber, this morning.

“Sadly Allianz have done everything they can do avoid paying claims”, he said.

“What Allianz have done is shop around for reports that say it is a flooding event rather than a storm event, just to get out of paying insurance claims.

“You’re very quick at taking the dollars from my constituents for the insurance, you need to be equally quick in settling claims in a fair and reasonable manner”.

The federal member also threatened to name and shame individual claims that were still outstanding in Dungog.

An Allianz spokesperson responded to the claims with this statement.

“To keep home insurance affordable, Allianz home policies have optional flood cover. It would be unfair to the many customers that pay extra for flood cover, if flood claims were accepted from customers that chose not to include and pay for flood cover.”

  1. I have had a similar refusal of claim for stormwater damage at my farm in Paynes Crossing from NRMA Insurance.
They sent out a hydrologist 11 weeks after the storm and they concluded it was a flood. But despite my requests the
NRMA will not give me a copy of the report. I have had to lodge a dispute with the Financial Services Ombudsman.
