COUNCILLORS DEFER DECISION TO RENAME BRIDGE

Greater Taree City councillors, have deferred a decision on whether to rename Dyers Crossing Bridge near Nabiac.

More than 200 people have signed a petition in favour of renaming the bridge after Erica Gordon – a long term local resident who campaigned tirelessly for the old timber bridge’s replacement.

Federal and state MPs David Gillespie and Stephen Bromhead have both come out in support of the proposal.

But councillors have voted to defer the decision, so they can clarify the process around naming public facilities.
