The Taree office of Lyne MP, David Gillespie, was evacuated when an electrical switchboard in the basement caught fire this morning.
Fire fighters were called to Hooke Chambers on Victoria Street around 11:30 and quickly cordoned off the area.
It took about half an hour for the fire to be extinguished, after crews had trouble locating it amongst thick smoke.
Luckily, the building only suffered minimal damage.
