Police say they are investigating why a woman, who was hit and killed on the Pacific Highway near Raymond Terrace last night, came to be there in the first place.
The woman aged in her 40s was struck by a car and truck about 500 metres north of Masonite Road.
A critical incident team from the Central Hunter Local Area Command has been set up to investigate the death, and will look at the woman’s movements before she came to be on the highway.
Police are appealing for information from witnesses.
