  2. Tony was one of the most professional, helpful, down to earth people I have ever had the pleasure of dealing with as a news journalist. He had the rare skill of being able convey information, often sensitive, into easy to understand language. Tony’s compassion and his strong sense of humour, as well as his involvement in charity events such as the Variety Bash, will be forever remembered. Some years ago Tony appeared in a short film I made with another former TV employee in Newcastle’s Shoot Out Film Festival, as, of course, a police officer and he impressed us with his new found acting ability. Tony Tamplin will be sadly missed.
