Former New South Wales energy minister Chris Hartcher is retiring from politics, announcing today he won’t re-contest his seat of Terrigal on the Central Coast at next year’s election.
Mr Hartcher is the longest serving member of the state lower house and says it is time to move on after 26 years.
Last year he relinquished his ministry and then moved to the crossbench in February, following an ICAC probe into illegal political donations.
It’s alleged the 68-year-old organised a scheme to funnel banned donations to Liberal candidates.
