THIS IS NOT ART NEWCASTLE

Newcastle’s This is Not Art festival is being celebrated this long weekend.

A 70 metre Newcastle Panthers car park wall will be decorated with street art by local and visiting graffiti artists as one of the long term projects helping to revitalise the city’s west.

The independent festival has gained a national following in its 16 years, bringing many visitors to the area.

“I think maybe Newcastle doesn’t know that,” festival co-director, Simone Sheridan said.

“But the rest of the country knows about this festival if they’re in the arts.

“They pretty much know not to book out any events over the (October) long weekend because it’s the TiNA weekend.”

Interactive writing, theatre and art workshops will run in the city until Sunday.
