It’s been a long time in the making, but the dredging of Swansea Channel is expected to go ahead mid next month, following the announcement of a successful tender.
The $2.5-million state government project involves the removal of up to 100,000 cubic metres of sand, which will then be pumped to Blacksmiths for dune rehabilitation.
Lake Macquarie Council says it has not yet committed funds and is continuing talks about the channel’s long-term maintenance.
