Today Moree residents and school students did their part for legacy day – a time to spare a thought for widows across the nation who’ve lost their loved ones in battle.
Organisers sold merchandise along Barlo Street to help reach the yearly target.
“We also run a local raffle here which everybody donates to and that’s extra but we generally with a bit of luck get about $15,000 a year that we just send from our area which is fantastic considering the times and the hard, drought and everything.”
Legacy supports about 55 widows in the Moree shire each year.
