Tamworth’s firefighters had a different kind of call-out last night – with local police needing their assistance to free a fleeing criminal.
Police were in the process of arresting a man at a Flemming Cresent home in West Tamworth at around 10pm, when he decided to make a quick getaway.
He tried to hide in the roof cavity of the home, but got himself stuck.
Fire and Rescue New South Wales was called in – crews had to remove roof tiles and eaves to free the man.
