Police have failed in their application to have Byron Bay nightclub, Cheeky Moneys, close at midnight.
The call came after the popular back-packer bar was identified as a hotspot for alcohol-related problems.
Instead, the Independent Liquor and Gaming authority has ruled the club must close at 2am, and impose a lock-out at 1am.
An alcohol marshal will also patrol the premises every Friday and Saturday night.
