STUDENTS AIM FOR GOLD AT WORLDSKILLS COMPETITION

Two North Coast TAFE students are bound for the nation’s most prestigious skills and trade show.

Hairdressing student Gemma Edwards and beauty student Jade Robertson will benchmark their skills against their peers at the National Worldskills competition in Perth.

More than 500 of Australia’s most talented students and apprentices will battle it out for gold medal honours.

“We’ll be doing massage, hot stones, acrylic nails, makeup,” said Ms Robertson.

“What they’re looking for is someone to represent Australia in beauty therapy, so their standards are extremely high,” commented beauty therapy teacher Jo Shoesmith on the judges.

The competition takes place over three days in September.
