DISTURBING STATISTIC EMERGES ACROSS NEW ENGLAND NORTH WEST

There’s good news on the crime front for much of New South Wales, with all major categories of crime, bar fraud either stable or decreasing over the past two years.
But closer to home the state’s Bureau of Crime Statistics and Research report card isn’t as encouraging.
The New England north west has recorded a 64 per cent increase in robbery with a weapon other than a firearm, with 41 offences occurring in the 12-months to September 2013.
Of the 41 incidents, the majority happened in Tamworth, with the city recording 26.
Moree coming in second on the list with six.
