BYRON BAY ATHLETE TAKES OUT TRIATHLON CHALLENGE IN FORSTER

Byron Bay’s Tim Reid has won the main event at the Challenge Forster Triathlon Festival, ahead of Wollongong’s David Mainwaring.

Former Port Macquarie local Tim Berkel was hit by a car during the cycle leg – he’s fine but had to withdraw from the race.

Narabeen’s Rebecca Hoschke was the first female across the line.

The gruelling Half Challenge was made up of a 1.9 kilometre swim, a 90 kilometre cycle and a 21-kay run.

Four events were held during the festival at Forster Keys, with 780 competitors from across the country taking part.
