Newcastle detectives say they believe the deaths of two residents at an aged-care facility in Wallsend were deliberate.
In October this year, an 83-year-old woman and a 91-year-old man died in suspicious circumstances.
A third resident, a 91-year-old female, fell ill with similar symptoms but has since recovered.
Investigators are interviewing witnesses, looking at CCTV footage and seeking advice from medical and forensics experts.
