CANCER PATIENTS GET NEW WHEELS

Cancer patients from Port Macquarie will have greater access to treatment thanks to the donation of a new car to the Cancer Council.

Donated by Newcastle Permanent, the car will be operated by a team of nine volunteers.

It will transport patients to the North Coast Cancer Institute.

“What we find through the work that we do in communities is some cancer patients, because they are transport disadvantaged, make a decision to actually not have treatment because they have no way of getting to their treatment.”

The service will be operational from next week.
