I think it’s about the time the department takes action and instead of removing thousands of children’s from the first allegation which is all it is , is to stick by there saying keeping families together because right now all there doing is destroying families destroying marriages, destroying the kids they say they are protecting its wrong , and as Christmas rolls I’m so many families feeling hurt and not being able to see or spend time with these children on this day
Awesome interview. There are many people with many stories to tell. There will be ongoing rallies to continue until reforms are made to the child protection system. I am a member of CAP and support this fully.
Congratulations to these Parents , Grandparents and family members who are passionate about exposing the system and it’s hard cruel line on removing Children who DO NOT warrant State Care and who have loving and capable parents and grandparents. Why does our State Government continue to repeat the dirty history of the past and where is the support and assistance for these families and their children … the Foster Mills now being run by the NGO’s of NSW is the last place a Child needs to be. Lets not forget that one of these NGO’s is Catholic Care and we know how far the Catholic Church will go to hide and conceal abuses in care.
As a member of cap, Children and Parents, support group. I had no clue about how Docs actually work. Did you know that if you ever ask docs for.help.or support.it is called self reporting. If.your child is placed in foster care and the same carer has your child for two years or more then they can legally adopt and change the name of your child without parents permission. This.is.the new stolen generation.

Thank you NBN for letting the voices of innocent families so badly damaged by the intervention of DOCS have a voice. The public need to be educated as to what is really going on at the front line.
The New Stolen Generation are the children forcibly removed by State and Territory authorities from their families since the era of the “Forgotten Australians” ended in the late 1980’s to the current day using the discretionary term “In the best interests of the child” which is not legally defined in state and territory legislation.
Innocent children and families are being harmed daily by current State and Territory government practices and for many the damage being done will be lifelong.
Children are being forcibly removed from innocent parents and grandparents every day in Australia on false allegations. Some of these children are being forcibly adopted while children in need of intervention and protection are being ignored and left in unsafe environments to suffer further harm.
The Child Safety Authorities in Australia are not held accountable for their actions and this breads incompetence and corruption. Families in need of support are not given the help they need their families are just ripped apart resulting in unnecessary trauma.
There is NO external complaints mechanism in the Australian Child Protection Industry so evidenced complaints are NOT being investigated and the Department is NOT being held to account for their criminal misconduct and abuse of children in their care by anyone. Failures are being ignored and covered up.
The predominant qualification held by child safety workers is social work. Social Workers are NOT a registered Profession in Australia they have no Governing Body to establish and mandate codes of practice and conduct. No external Board is monitoring their performance to protect the public from the harm they are doing to children and families everyday. No one is holding these caseworkers accountable.
Child Safety workers are not registered Professionals yet the State and Territory Governments have given these child protection workers more power then any other Profession in Australia. They have unlimited power which they are abusing every day to steal children and destroy lives. Their opinions are made without adequate investigations, as evidence is not required in the secretive Care Courts. Parents are denied justice and deemed guilty in many instances because a caseworker has failed to validate allegations or lied in their affidavits.
Whilst the Government spares no expense on their legal representatives to steal children, parents and grand parents are not able to defend themselves adequately against false allegations. Their finances are limited, there are very few good private solicitors prepared to represent them against the government in Care Court and Legal Aid provides very limited funding resulting in inadequate defence of the innocent. There is an abusive imbalance of power denying justice to the innocent and ensuring the Government wins at all cost to the taxpayer.
The public are being deceived, the stealing of children from innocent parents is now common practice as a first response by the child protection industry to an often “anonymous” report not a last resort despite the overwhelming evidence that parents and grandparents are both willing and able to care for their children and despite the states having a statutory responsibility to help families, it is just not happening.
To steal a child until they turn 18 years old with no review when no crime has been committed is an unjust breach of human rights. Australian parents and children are treated worse then hardened criminals who have a right to adequate legal defence and are deemed innocent until proven guilty. Our children and families deserve better.
History has evidenced that the Government is the worst parent of all, children are being abused and murdered in their care and no one is being held accountable.
It is time for the Federal Government to hold the State and Territory Governments to account for their crimes against innocent families. Scrap the failed child protection system across the nation, stop stealing children and support families to stay safe and live together in the best interest of children, families and society.
Commissioner Tim Carmody has just handed down 101 recommendations after his one year investigation into the failings of the Child Protection System in Queensland and it is now up to the QLD state Government to decide to act on those findings, but states like NSW who have taken over 10 thousand more children then Queensland are not being investigated or held to account at all.
The systemic failings identified in the QLD Commission of inquiry are replicated in every state and territory in Australia. This is a National Crisis that requires a National intervention and response to save the New Stolen Generation and stop the stealing of children forever.
Commissioner Tim Carmody’s Final report and recommendations should be read by every person who cares about vulnerable children and wants to change a failing system to save our children from any further harm by state and territory governments. It can be downloaded at the following link:

I was once naïve and would say oh DoCs/FaCs only take children because the parents have done something wrong, that they were a service that helped families and people of DV. Boy have I found out how wrong I was. DoCs came into my Daughters life through false allegations and took my grandchild. Although this department was proven to be wrong and restoration was ordered by the local court, this corrupt department began telling lies and refused to return the child. This has resulted in a long drawn out battle through the courts and many thousands of Dollars. Also it has caused a once close family to break down. I am not saying there are not Children that need protection from an abusive family; I’m saying this department is getting it wrong so many times now. This Department has become a law unto themselves and have become a money making machine for the caseworkers Carers Solicitors Courts Etc. all at the the expense of Innocent Parents extended families and most of all the Children. There needs to be major changes made to the whole system. There needs to be transparency in the System and the Courts. If an average person tells a lie in a affidavit they can be Jailed but if a Department employee lies they get a demerit point. It’s time for change. We hear too often now the child/family was known to the Department when a child is badly abused or dies. Why were these children not protected and taken. Why are Children not placed with family members? We never hear about the children abused in the Departments care or of the death of children in Department care. If The Department has so many good carers that are so called better parents then why do the children that have been brought up in care have their children taken off them with the reason given being they will be bad parents because they were in Care. The System is broken Australia wide. I am now a member of CAP and I am support/Advocate for parents and Children who have been victimised by this Department. There have now been 2 TV channels who have finally put the story out there NBN and ABC. The state of Tasmania is now stepping up to bring about change to the system in their state. We members of CAP are calling upon the Federal government to step in and listen to these families take control of this so called Child protection Department return the Children wrongfully taken and change the System for the better of the Children, families and extended families. How can docs say its not taken lightly when a child is taken. I have personally.pu my hand up to take my first grandchild and it was refused. I got told by docs that its stytistics and what ifs..that is not a reason. They say family comes first, well if that was true I would have my grandson. Thankyou NBN so much for giving us a chance. As great grandparents my wife and I were in attendance at this rally supporting my daughter and her fight to get custody of her grandson.
The stories that were related to those in attendance by those affected by the Department’s action could only be described as “legalized abuse” and “cruel and un-natural punishment” .
One person related the situation whereby she is being denied seeing the young child concerned who is in hospital with not long to live. How cruel is that.
SHAME ON DoCS.
DoCS – Surely it is not that hard to make a decision that produces a positive result. Why do you seem to go out of your way to make BAD decisions. Is it that you really “just don’t care” or do you think its easier for YOU to take the easy way out and “take the children” rather than apply some commonsense and compassion.
SHAME ON DoCS. I know, to you it is only a JOB and as long as you get paid at the end of the fortnight is probably all that matters. To the parents, grandparents, great grandparents and other relatives it is a matter of FAMILY and CARING and LOVING. SHAME ON DoCS.

My littlevgirl was raken on ONE false report..Just one call was made and it was a devestating lie..and docs came with the police and I was capsicum sprayed and they stole her out from under me…I could she her screaminjng MUMMY as they drove off…She had not spent ONE NIGHT away from me at that stage..she completed an entire year of school without any absences..She went to nippers..ballet..gymnastics..auskick…and was a healthy active child…
She now dreams they are c omming back to take her sgain..They have wreaked both our heads !. ..
Thankyou NBN for this very worthy coverage of the plight of so many Australian parents that have had their children forcibly removed from their loving,caring homes & families,all from false unsubstantuated reports & held without reviews until they are 18 yrs old.I can personally speak of the trauma associated with what DoCS have done since entering our life,they have removed our daughter on one false report without further investigating whether it was true or not,then over the last ten months have made a case built upon fabricated evidences,fabricated reports & affidavits to justify keeping our child from us,they are not accountable or transparent to anyone.I have been the target of a somewhat unwanted vendetta against me by the DoCS caseworkers & dragging me through courts to drag out the time that our child is in care for DoCS to say that our child has now bonded with the carers & too late now to return back home. This DoCS have caused more harm to our child than we as parents could ever have dreamed of in our whole life,they have caused psychological & emotional trauma so much to the point now that our child will need counselling to get over the trauma that has been done by DoCS.I personally hold DoCS accountable,as this is nothing less than Child Abuse!!!
Thank you NBN for allowing the truth to be told. After 7years of fighting this unjust system it was such a good feeling to know that the public is finally hearing our cries. I lost my babes because I was a victim of DV. I was offered no support or services. They just took my babes. My children and I were then further abused by their destructive system. They do not work in children’s best interests. I am a lot stronger in myself today but its been a long hard road and I still don’t have my children back. A big pat on the back to all who attended. This rally will be followed up with others. There is support available for families caught in this nightmare. Nobody should have to suffer this tragedy. Especially alone.
I know call upon NBN ABC and other Media to take up the challange to do a full feature story on this subject. No names need to be used no identifying features need to be used. voices can be changed all these things can be used to protect the identy of the child. Its time for the Media to let the public know the real truth.

I was at this rally and to be honest I wish my face was shown as my case was years ago and I want to help those who need it as I can assure you there are 2 sides to every story and not everyone is as guilty as DOCS/ FACS make out, I am not disputing that there are some parents out there that need their kids taken off them but in saying that there is some innocent ones as well, so if anyone needs help I am willing to help if I can
I totally agree with Colleen Fullers statement above that a full feature story be told.I for one am available at any notice to tell my story as the truth needs to be told & no more cover-ups by the Department of Childrens Services & I call for the lifting of the ‘gag’ orders imposed upon the media,stories should all be told as it a matter of freedom of speech & providing no names of children/parents/parties that are currently going through the court process,I see no reason not to have parents or children tell their tragic stories after dealing with DoCS/FACS.
Past and present Ministers of our Welfare Department in the State of NSW will be ask penetrating questions on the behavior of the Dept. and its staff over a period of many decades We will not be asking as individuals but as a”Block” of former and present clients for no more will the media be told that the dept. does not discuss individual cases Our voices will be heard well before the up coming NSW state elections with or without the media .
