Lake Macquarie councillors last night voted to endorse an application to the Industrial Relations Minister for the Newcastle Show Day 2014 to be declared a full-day public holiday in the local government area.
The endorsement follows community consultation by council in August to apply for a minimum half day public holiday from noon to 5pm.
Newcastle Show will run from February 28th until the 2nd of March.
