A retired Catholic priest living on the Central Coast will appear in court next month after being charged with two counts of possession of child abuse material.

Detectives from the Sex Crimes Squad arrested the 72-year-old at his home yesterday morning and seized a number of items, including computer equipment and a DVD for forensic examination.

He was given strict conditional bail and will appear at Wyong Local Court on September 4.
