A 33-year-old woman has been charged with intent to cause grievous bodily harm after she allegedly stabbed her partner with a screwdriver.
About 3pm yesterday afternoon the female is alleged to have stabbed her 38-year-old partner in the eye socket at a Cardiff Road premises.
Police arrested the female a short time later and the man was taken to John Hunter Hospital.
She will appear at Newcastle Local Court this morning.
