A 48-year-old suffered a fractured elbow after four masked men stormed his unit in Fowler Street at Hamilton early this morning.
Police say the man was asleep when the group burst through the front door at 5:30.
The men hit the victim several times before leaving with his wallet.
He was taken to John Hunter Hospital.
Police say they want to speak to anyone who saw a car leaving a service road near Darling Street, around the time of the incident.
