A woman is threatening legal action against Gold Coast City Council, after she fell down an embankment at Mermaid Beach, caused by recent erosion.
The 42-year-old was walking her dog when she slipped on a concealed rock, fracturing her ankle.
“Once I hit the rock I actually took my balance of my other foot and there was this rock on it and I just fell over and felt a crack.”
Council wouldn’t comment on the incident.

The Council cannot op out of responsibility. Major beach erosion commenced with the building of the Tweed walls.
Lack of understanding of littoral flow, and efforts to prevent further erosion caused more problems that are still with us today. These problems were created by Governments & Gold Coast Councils. If Government or Council officers continue without consideration of all reports they must be condemned, held responsible for their actions and committed to trial. There is no defence for stupidity in the face of overwhelming evidence.
