Unsolved Homicide Team detectives, who have this week been searching an area of forest at Bellingen, say it’s now highly unlikely they’ll discover the skeletal remains of missing Dorrigo woman Bernadette Donaldson.
Mrs Donaldson, who is believed to have been murdered, went missing in April 1998.
Traces of her blood were found in a car belonging to Bellingen man Chris Watt, whose body was discovered in Brisbane two days after Mrs Donaldson disappeared.
He died from a drug overdose.
Police say the investigation remains open and they are keen to hear from anyone who may have information relating to the case.
