SEARCH CALLED OFF AFTER REPORTS OF A MISSING MAN AT TERRIGAL

There was a major search off the Central Coast today, following reports a man had fallen into the sea from rocks at Terrigal.

A witness told police they saw a man go into the water, but didn’t see him come out.

The Westpac Rescue Helicopter was called, as police, lifesavers and divers searched for more than an hour and a half.

But police then suspended the operation, amid no reports of anyone missing, and everyone on the beach being accounted for.

  1. Either this was a stupid hoax or somebody was badly mistaken in what they saw. In any case 4 lifesavers risked there own lives seaching close to rocks in unpredictable seas for this person.
In all cases of eye witness’s there should be a contact phone number left to get more information if required.
In this case it seems no one was even sure where the person went in and no other information was available to direct the search.
Just not good enough from who ever took the call.
