SEARCH FOR MISSING CRUISE PASSENGERS OFF NSW COAST

A major search is underway off the coast between Sydney and Port Macquarie for two missing cruise passengers, feared to have fallen overboard.

The 30-year-old man and 26-year-old woman were reported missing from the Carnival Spirit cruise ship after it had docked at Sydney Harbour this morning.

The pair were last seen at around 8:30 last night.

The Australian Maritime Safety Authority (AMSA) is coordinating a 300 square nautical mile air search, about 60 nautical miles south of Port Macquarie.

A spokesman for Carnival Cruise Lines said the couple were travelling with family and friends on a 10-night cruise of the Pacific Islands and their disappearance is not being treated as suspicious.
