Alzheimer’s Australia CEO John Watkins has been elected as the University of New England’s new chancellor.
The former New South Wales deputy premier and education minister fills the void left following Richard Torbay’s sudden resignation last month.
Mr Watkins says he’s excited to join the university at a time of growth and financial well-being.
“I’m very keen to ensure that as many people as possible, especially in the New England area, get the opportunity for further education. It changes lives, it’s the great the great benefit that we can bring to the next generation.”
