The generosity of several local residents was recognised in a community award ceremony in Port Macquarie today.
Recipients include Betty Allman who raised almost $1 million for the Hastings Cancer Trust, foster mum Gayle George and Out of School Hours bus driver Neville Bell.
Wendy Hudson, who was recognised for her work with the Kendall Tennis Club, says she’s stoked to receive the award.
“Tennis is obviously my big love, but just getting the youth group back up and running and getting kids of the street just to do any sort of exercise and to have a safe place for them to be of a night.”
Maureen Cook was named Local Woman of the Year, while Ron Walesby and Max Waters received Seniors Week Community Service Awards.
