HUNDREDS FAREWELL GILKS

Around 600 mourners have paid their respects to freestyle motocross rider Tyrone Gilks in Cardiff today.

19-year-old Gilks died during a practice attempt for a world record jump in Maitland a week ago.

His team mate Jim Bartle referred to Gilks by his nickname “snowflake” and said ” if he thought he could fly to the moon he’d give it a go.”

His father Kevin said if Gilks had any last words they would be “he would want us all to say I’ve got this.”

Pastor Mark Zaia said it was the biggest funeral they have had at the church in 20 years.

We’ll have full coverage of the funeral in NBN News tonight at 6.
