An outbreak of the deadly parvo-virus on the Far North Coast has vets calling on dog owners to vaccinate their pets.
A case hasn’t been recorded for several years but four have been identified in the past two weeks.
The disease causes severe diarrhoea and vomiting and 40% of cases result in death.
It’s easily preventable with regular vaccinations.
“You can get a three year vaccination which costs about costs you about $86 so about $30 a year. The last case we had in was for ten days it cost $1850 to treat the dog.”
