RUNWAY WORKS UNDERWAY SOON

Work on extending and widening Port Macquarie Airport’s main runway will start this month after an extensive planning period.

Due to be completed by the end of June, the upgrade will allow the airport to cater for larger aircraft and encourage carriers to introduce new routes.

Last year, a record 230,000 passengers passed through the airport, but there’s the potential for that number to increase to 350,000 once construction is finished.

From this week, temporary traffic controls will be in place on Tuffins Lane.
