Port Macquarie’s Darren O’Rafferty made an impressive comeback to professional surfing today, taking out his round two heat at the Breaka Burleigh Pro.
The veteran world tour surfer had the highest heat score of the morning – 16 out of 20, which included an 8.33 ride.
He smashed fellow Aussies Kai Hing and Hamish Renwick to make it through to the next round.
“I was just really excited to do a contest again you know I kind of miss competing and I just thought I’d get my entry form into the Breaka and go up and give it a go and now I’m here I’m really enjoying it.”
