  1. the mayor of port stephen`s council, bruce mckenzie, by the use of his voting block in council and other connections, is inflicting a major safety, health and substantial property devaluation on many residents of port stephen he and his fellow councillors were elected to look after the interest of ratepayers, not to further their own personal wealth at the detriment of ordinary people, if allowed to proceed this proposal will be devastating to not only locals in the williamtown, salt ash and tilligerry areas, but will act as a major bottleneck to tourists and peak hour traffic flows to nelson and salamander bays and other tourist and business areas, especially in holiday times, no other company would be allowed to inflict this 22 per hour,16 hours a day 5am till 10pm and longer if he gets all he wants b-double truck movement onto a totally unsuitable single lane road, if this is not a legal conflict of interest,it is most certainly a moral one, for the sake of a miserable 50c or $1.00 a ton access payment, which is a tax deductable business cost anyhow, and would enable mckenzie to use lavis lane to access the nelson bay road at the cabbage tree roundabout and effect no one, he pushes greedily on with this insane proposal, it should be noted also that neither bob baldwin or craig baumann, our local state and federal represtatives accepted the invitation to attend the public meeting, their is a distinctly fishy smell coming out of this whole matter, no one objects to someone making a buck, but it must be balanced with the common good.
