An elderly Taree couple have been assaulted during a home invasion overnight.
Just after midnight, two masked men kicked in the rear security door of their Flett Street home.
The 79-year-old man was hit over the head, while a 73-year-old woman was threatened at knife point.
The men escaped with cash and some personal items.
Police have described both men as being of Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander appearance, in their early 20s and with solid builds.
