Senior police in Sydney say the use of a taser in Glen Innes over the weekend, is an opportunity to draw the public’s attention to how effective the measure is.
On Friday evening, police allege a 34-year-old man harassed and assaulted officers when he was asked to leave a hotel on Grey Street.
When capsicum spray didn’t work, they used a taser.
It was one of two incidents in as many days where New South Wales police had to resort to tasering.
“These two uses of taser are examples where the tactical option has been completely effective in reducing potential injuries to police and members of the public and to offenders.”
The 34-year-old from Glen Innes will appear before Glen Innes local court on January 15.
