THOMAS GEORGE ‘DISGRACED’ BY HIS CONSTITUANTS

There’s been major backlash from Member for Lismore, Thomas George over yesterday’s public meeting about the state government’s Strategic Land Use Policy.

Mr George says he was spat on and intimidated… but activists say it’s just more ‘political spin’.

  1. With so much video footage of this event, from the moment he got out of the car until the moment he got back into it, surely someone should be able to prove or disprove his allegation. No one seems to have seen this happen except Thomas?

  2. I have watched videos of the meeting, and the Minister walking calmly to his car, taking off his jacket, folding it, getting in the car, winding down his window and talking to someone, just before being driven off.
Not the action of someone having just been spat upon.
Sources say the supposed spitting incident occurred as the Minister walked to his car.
Thomas George was nowhere in sight at that stage.

They cannot even get their story straight.
It is Rule 1 – to discredit the crowd.
I do not believe a word of it.

  3. I watched these guys leaving. I too saw nothing of spitting or jostling?? how could anyone jostle with a police contingency in the double figures? The videos are being uploaded by hundreds of people who filmed that day and no where is this incident caught on film. Quite frankly I am disgusted at what seems to be transporting here, politicians who will stop at nothing to discredit people who rightfully are frightened stiff of a life living in a gas field. Shouting yes, tears yes, but as for the other allegation, more political spin.

  4. Maybe he spat into the wind and it came back at him. These people aren’t the sharpest pencils in the box.

  5. We the constituents are the ones “disgraced and disgusted” at this blatant allegation (not a proven fact) .. I’m with Denis and Lisa .. one only has to peruse the pictures and videos being uploaded to see how shamefully incoherent, ill-informed and very ‘unnerved’ these so called experts were .. . lots of passionate, frightened, angry people from all walks of life, certainly not all extremists. Thomas George can’t save face after this, even if he does admit his lie.
Brad Hazzard needs to be reminded anyone paid by the Government is a “public servant”. lmao here.

  6. I walked with the minister and Thomas George and their minders from the Town Hall to the car, all the while taking photos. There was a lot of angry heckling from a small contingent, but no spitting (from either party). George was elected to be a representative of the people of the northern rivers, but he’s way offside and out of touch. I didn’t hear the comment made that got him to leap out of his car to yell at one of his constituents. Spitting? A figment of his imagination I think.

  7. Thomas Gearge lost control of the meeting after about 3 sentences! Brad Hazzard took control and tried the best he could. Realising he was potentially in the box seat and in control he pushed ahead….. The crown overcame this group of pollies with a tsunami of passion (not hate). WE took control and let them know in no uncertain terms what we thought of their ‘Pin Cushioning’ and degradation of our lands and environment.
I did not see any spitting but even if there was, it wouldn’t be the 1st time a politician with no respect for a strong democratic vote will be spat on. They spit on us all the time with their lies and cover-ups! reminded me of a Shakespeare play!!

  8. I think if Thomas George is so appauled he should resign. How can he represent those he feels such disrespect for? I don’t for one minute believe his story, the police would have been on to this situation in a flash. I think it is a “distraction” away from the real truth of the matter which is they have failed us miserably, and Thomas George is at the helm. They could not answer the questions asked often by expert scientist in the audience, and treated the people with disrespect and distain. The fact Thomas George’s son is working for Metgasco shows completely the “boys club” that it is. How can Mr George possible represent the best interests of the people when his family is so tied up with Metgasco? And he still has not answered the question as to whether he himself has shares in Metgasco, not that they are worth much, I see they have dropped to 15c, I think investors are wising up to the battle that lays ahead of Metgasco in the Northern Rivers if they continue their assult on the people.

  9. I wasn’t at this meeting unfortunately ( work commitment) however i have listened to Brad Hazzard on ABC NC radio a month ago where the public had the opportunity to ask questions re CSG !
NOT one of the questions were answered in fact i was embarrassed
YES Thomas George on the way our so called minister spoke to educated people treating them with disrespect n distain . Seems to me you don’t like a fair playing field ?
