Aussies are being encouraged to give up the bottle this weekend and set an example to the younger generation.
The national ‘Cringe the Binge’ weekend of action was launched in Byron Bay this morning, promoting the message that young people can have a good time without drinking.
“We are not an anti alcohol campaign we are about making good choices and to drink responsibly.”
The program has been supported by local police and medical professionals, fed up with dealing with the aftermath of alcohol abuse.
“On Monday morning and the early part of the week every week we’ve got preventable injuries being treated, taking up hospital beds.”
Participants are asked to donate the money saved from going dry to the cause.
