WEATHER UPDATE – BIG SPRING TEMPERATURE SWINGS

MONDAY 22 OCTOBER 2012
On Saturday Port Macquarie experienced its hottest October day in 100 years of records.

It was the hottest day of any month in 7 years reaching 39 degrees. Today (Monday the 22nd) a classic southerly buster has been tearing its way up the coast with winds over 80 km recorded at Nobbys Head near Newcastle at 4:30pm.

Temperatures have dropped dramatically.

There hasn’t been much rain associated with the change but coastal showers will increase overnight and tomorrow Tuesday the 23rd. A low will form off the coast and that will help generate some swell building to 3m.

It won’t be long and the heat will be back on. Conditions will ease by Wednesday and on Thursday you can expect a fine, warm to hot day. Over all another dry week is on the way as wet weather from this latest southerly will be minimal, like all the others before it.
