The Office of Environment and Heritage has confirmed what locals already knew, that the Far North Coast has some “very good” beaches.
The New South Wales State of Beaches Report was released on Saturday, stamping the majority of Byron Bay’s beaches as “very good”.
However it wasn’t all good news – Ballina’s Shaw Bay East was graded as “poor” due to bacterial contamination caused by heavy rainfall.
The report ranked 260 beaches throughout the state, assessing water quality.
